Chicago looked different in the final months of 2025.

In the span of just weeks, tensions escalated across many of the city’s neighborhoods as federal agents ramped up immigration raids. What began as minor clashes outside the Broadview Detention Facility quickly evolved into a citywide standoff between residents and federal authorities. Tear gas filled the air, and barrages of pepper bombs became a familiar sight in neighborhoods across Chicago.

This collection brings together photographs from the months I spent documenting these events — from massive demonstrations where tens of thousands flooded the streets of downtown Chicago to isolated incidents where individuals were confronted outside local establishments. Together, these images offer a glimpse into the ICE presence that consumed Chicago in late 2025.
